• Adding Sounds to a Web Page                                  

•Yes, we know YOU love your sound file,
why else would you wish to share it with all the world.
Thank you, but please, please, please, give US (your visitors) some control over
how we have to listen to your wonderful sound file.
In other words, use one of the methods below to add sounds to your pages.
Do NOT auto start it and loop it indefinitely without allowing for a way to control
it on the page. Do NOT use the "bgsound" method, please and thank you from
your visitors, their coworkers, and most immediate family members too. Ü

•Using a button or a simple link.

The above methods simply open the sound file using the default sound player application
for a particular type of sound file.

•The best way though, is to make the sound file part of the page. Ü
Adding handy controls for your visitors to use as they view the page.

•Embedding the sound file into the web page.

•I have only used compressed wave files here, but the same embed techniques can be used for midi files, real audio files, and many others. You can adjust the size of the display with width and height, to suit your needs and file types. Just remember to give your visitors control of the sounds. Auto start them, loop them if you wish, but always allow for a way to stop them, and never HIDE them. If you hide them, your visitor might just leave without viewing all the other things you have on your wonderful web site. Ü
